Sometimes the assembly process actually looks more like a dissection...
This adorable Ballerina Mouse is well on her way to being completed.
Crochet sections are done and I just need to source some ribbon
for the ballet shoes and then I will begin attaching all the little parts.
The body construction is unusual, in that both ends are closed...
which means that the laughing purple goldfishhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13416310131864970028noreply@blogger.com15tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6103953637421884770.post-56213269044664743112017-09-13T22:25:00.000+10:002017-09-13T22:26:16.647+10:00Birth of a Mouse
I need to make a bunch of gifts for Little People at the moment...
and let's face it - creatures are so much more fun than booties, bonnets or blankets!
Not quite feeling the inspiration to work up a design of my own,
so I've been trawling Pinterest for ideas.
Rather than quirky designs, I'm feeling drawn to more traditional cutesy patterns.
You can take a peek here if laughing purple goldfishhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13416310131864970028noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6103953637421884770.post-58666295010151198982017-09-10T22:47:00.000+10:002017-09-13T22:51:32.328+10:00Sam the Unicorn
Ahhhhhh... a finished project!
It's been such a horrendously long time since I've seen a project through to completion,
I'd almost forgotten about this blissful sense of satisfaction.
I can't stop ADMIRING him
Isn't he glorious?
Really and truly glorious... I'm absolutely smitten by him.
(pattern here)
I had a really hard time choosing the yarn for his scarf. laughing purple goldfishhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13416310131864970028noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6103953637421884770.post-58498972594014429772017-09-09T22:36:00.000+10:002017-09-13T22:37:55.225+10:00I found my blog!
Somehow I managed to lose my blog...
I could read it, but I couldn't access it to edit!
and I was wanting to show you this Little Guy...
or the beginnings of him, at least.
As you can see, I'm still obsessed with this pattern:

I was browsing through some of my old patterns,
looking for inspiration...
When I stumbled on this little gal!
Shelly the Colourful Sea Turtle
is an adorable knitted toy, which I designed back in 2013...
Much as I love the pattern,
I think the reason this one makes my heart skip a beat
is the precious little munchkin holding the toy.

Of course there's more...
JUST A FEW MORE
'cause I really do love these little guys

It seems to me that this guy is an old PARTY ANIMAL
(perhaps it's the style of horns which give me this feeling)
I feel that he has been around the block a few times,

More INNER BEASTS to share today...
I really do love each and every one of these guys!
So often our creations look even better in real life too,
so I can only imagine how truly adorable these creatures must actually be.

These INNER BEASTS really are breeding...
and some of my friends are responsible for MORE THAN ONE creation:
Jorel has been working with my patterns for a number of years now,
and I always find her take on them refreshing!
She would always come up with something totally outside of the box...
and I love watching her creations emerge.
Sadly, Jorel had lost her CRO-JO

So, the strangest thing happened...
Two weeks ago, I released an unusual new pattern.
It was a little odd... left of centre...
not at all mainstream!
I wasn't even convinced that anyone would use it...
I expected maybe two or three people to join in the fun...
I was kind of WRONG!!!!!
Already the pattern has been downloaded almost 500 times,

It's official.
I am obsessed with making these unicorns.
They are just so adorable...
I don't seem to be able to stop.
Here's the pattern, if you need to make one too!

Could I possibly design an INNER BEAST DOLL? she asked
One that would represent your voice from within...
the one which which fills you with
doubts…
makes you question your decisions,
your happiness, and your
ability to succeed.
A nameless, faceless creature – who needs to be
tamed!
A creature you can pinch and poke, and throw across the room.

Still fluffing around with my surprise project
( the one I shared last week )
but I was also under a LITTLE pressure to finish Charlie's unicorn for her

Actually, it wasn't a LITTLE pressure...
Charlie is FIVE years old - and understands nothing about moderation or patience!
So there was a huge pressure for me to complete this cuddle toy for her.laughing purple goldfishhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13416310131864970028noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6103953637421884770.post-61260822808720624132016-10-08T20:08:00.000+11:002016-10-08T20:08:05.185+11:00A Basket Full Of Colour
One of the things I really L-O-V-E about acrylic yarns - is the INTENSITY of the colours.
You just don't get colours like these available in wool fibres.
Maybe there's a reason for it - I have no idea... Do you know why?
( I used to think that it was just a matter of taste... and that if someone wanted to make a quality project from 100% wool, and was therefore prepared to laughing purple goldfishhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13416310131864970028noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6103953637421884770.post-56881236427346450792016-09-30T15:34:00.001+10:002016-09-30T15:34:45.207+10:00Twinkle Toes the Unicorn.
Sweet Monkeys it's a long, long time since I've posted in Blog Land...
It's as if I was sucked into a vortex and completely disappeared!
A humongous, draining vortex... which depleted all my creative energy...
There was very little time or energy for crafting - let alone blogging about it!
Bit by bit, I've been setting aside time to craft again...
Because I've been laughing purple goldfishhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13416310131864970028noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6103953637421884770.post-73407656237642414652014-06-19T12:53:00.001+10:002014-06-19T12:55:14.425+10:00Getting Organised..
I used to have a craft room.
My very own craft room.
The space was all mine - and I didn't have to share it with anyone.
All my goodies were in the same room - and I knew where to find things...
MOST of the time.
Then...
Along came baby number four - and we needed the space for a nursery.
Bye-bye crafting paradise. Hello Baby!
Since then, I've been in a jumbled mess laughing purple goldfishhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13416310131864970028noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6103953637421884770.post-65140800244430253272014-06-04T10:00:00.000+10:002014-06-04T10:00:01.318+10:00I call her Jodie...
It's been a little while since I've made a toy... those flowers and beanies have kept me very busy!
But I've been asked to make some more mermaids for sale at Just Planet Gift Shop and Cafe in Sunbury... so it's time to pull out the safety eyes and stuffing... and start creating some characters.
I'm working from one of my own patterns: Roweena the Raggedy Rascal of the Sea.laughing purple goldfishhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13416310131864970028noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6103953637421884770.post-40206850638287557892014-06-03T17:34:00.001+10:002014-06-03T17:34:33.257+10:00Forty Flowers...If you're at all familiar with my work, you will have noticed this about me.
I NEVER MAKE THE SAME THING THE SAME WAY TWICE.
Even if I do use the same pattern twice... the projects never look the same...
The yarn is different... or the embellishing is different... I just don't do matching.
Unless it's a pair of mitts.
And even then - I make each one different if I can possibly get away with laughing purple goldfishhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13416310131864970028noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6103953637421884770.post-87897434163371928432014-06-01T14:20:00.000+10:002014-06-01T14:20:37.063+10:00Celestial Beads
Well... it's the first day of winter here...
And it's living up to expectations - dreary, cold and wet!
Please don't think that I'm complaining though...
It makes for the perfect crafting day - indoors where it's warm and dry - and no guilty feelings about how you should be outside making the most of the sunshine...
Most of us here have spent the last week or two suffering laughing purple goldfishhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13416310131864970028noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6103953637421884770.post-72416240006542300702014-05-21T20:18:00.000+10:002014-05-21T20:18:01.864+10:00Alien Encounter
Finally I have finished ALL of my festival hats!!!
This one is a competition beanie....
You might remember that the theme this year is OUT OF THIS WORLD.
And I think that this piece will suit the ALIEN category nicely!

Now that those other hats are out of the way for the moment - I'm working on my ALIEN HAT...
It's pretty BRIGHT... especially the fluorescent yellow of the eye...
there's a couple more of those eyes to come
It's changed a little since the original sketch I had planned... It ALWAYS changes, but you can see the basic elements are all still there...
I was a bit laughing purple goldfishhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13416310131864970028noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6103953637421884770.post-66983374198301001182014-05-17T19:25:00.000+10:002014-05-17T19:25:26.037+10:00Bobbly...
Loving how the front of this one is so very different from the back...
The front side is all about the bobbles... and then the back features the spoke wheels...
The photos are a little on the blurry side - due to fading light - but you get the idea!
laughing purple goldfishhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13416310131864970028noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6103953637421884770.post-86707034188212815032014-05-16T15:03:00.001+10:002014-05-16T15:03:56.984+10:00Stripey Jester
I started running out of time with my goal of sending beanies to both the Castlemaine Beanie Affair and the Alice Springs Beanie Festival...
So I raided my storage tubs which are full of unfinished projects...
Yes.
I have enough unfinished pieces to fill more than one tub...
But that's a story for another day!
Anyway, I discovered a half made beanie which I had been laughing purple goldfishhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13416310131864970028noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6103953637421884770.post-82164855080947197292014-05-15T14:42:00.000+10:002014-05-15T14:42:05.796+10:00Plum Surprise
I think that PURPLES and GREENS would have to be my all-time favourite colour combination...
They just complement one another so beautifully - and remind me of a glorious Springtime garden!

Could this hat be any more different from that last one?
It's so subdued, calm and serene...
And although it's really not plain - it certainly feels that way after some of the others!
