away we go...

So I made a start with that teeny-tiny hook and the embroidery thread leftovers...

progress - scrap threads

I'm keeping all the knots to the outside of my work. The plan is to turn the piece inside out when I am finished, and then hide the knots with a lining.

But I'm starting to quite like the look of them... so that plan might change!

Still not sure exactly what it will be when it is finished... but I'm running out of thread fairly quickly - look how small the ball is getting already.

  3. You definitely have to keep the ends to the outside. It gives is such a funky, bohemian look! I'm thinking a small change purse or a pouch for markers or, if all else fails, you can send it to Me! Any way you slice it, it's awesome! Thanks for sharing!

  4. The phrase "if you've got 'em, flaunt em!" popped to mind about those knots and I add my vote to make them part of the design. Is a whatchamacallit before it becomes something a whatchamabeit? Looking forward to seeing what it be's.

  5. Change purse, cosmetic bag, little girl girly bag, business card case, seed saving pouch, notions pouch, ...., it's hard to tell the size, but I'm sure you will come up with a great use for it. Tammy

  11. hey kristy...

thanks - I always have a hard time choosing a single colour to make anything in... so I love projects which use scraps, because there are soooo many colours in them (and I don't have to make the decision - they just all get thrown in)

  12. It's cute - especially the knots (keep them!)

I'd use it as a coin purse :-)

  15. hey kyliie...

thanks so much for the feedback! sometimes I wonder if there is really anyone out there reading my blog, or whether it is all just a figment of my imagination... so it's a real buzz to hear that you get a thrill when you see that I have posted

    much appreciated!

  16. I love the scrappy, "taily" look of this little purse too. Thank you so much! Now I have something to do with all the old embroidery floss I bought when I was on a cross-stitching binge a few years ago. I think cross-stitch burned itself out pretty hard, with me, but crocheting seems to be here to stay!

I love your ideas about blending different yarns together in projects, too. I'm doing that now with four strands of yarn to make an "Easy-Peasey" bag for my choir director to carry her music folders in. I'm using all her signiture colors, and I know she's going to love it!

I can totally see using the "crazy yarn" made from embroidery floss as an element to add interest to an otherwise boring project made with solid colors.

  17. hey virginia...

I think that the reason I am drawn to using a combination of colours, is that I can't decide on just one... seriously... it's a nightmare for me when I have to choose a single colour to work with!!!

I'm going to keep an eye out for your easy-peasy bag - it sounds fab!
