One of the things I really L-O-V-E about acrylic yarns - is the INTENSITY of the colours.
You just don't get colours like these available in wool fibres.
Maybe there's a reason for it - I have no idea... Do you know why?
( I used to think that it was just a matter of taste... and that if someone wanted to make a quality project from 100% wool, and was therefore prepared to pay wool prices... than they weren't going to want it in a garish colour like this almost fluorescent green!!!!!! )
Luckily for me, this project needed to be worked in acrylics - and I also needed bright colours...
so it's a match made in heaven!
As for the project - well - that's a secret for now... but I'll keep you posted on my progress.
You're welcome to guess what I'm up to though...
I'm starting with a bunch of vibrant green circles - does that help at all?
Probably not!
A dragon or iguana perhaps?!?!?!
ReplyDeleteA bright happy afghan with lime green circles in the middle of blocks? Love your patterns! Have made a gazillion pairs of your challenge mitts. Big family of 7 kids, 8 grands and 2 greats. Lots for the girls and the boys mates and of course for the gals co workers, neighbors, nieces etc. it's a wonderful pattern and it's become my go,to pattern for Christmas gifts.,thank you!

Vintage acrylics have even more garish colors than what is available today. I look for them at garage sales and resale shops.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are back blogging and crocheting! You have been missed.
Twiggy - An iguana would be awesome... but no, not this time... although I'm tucking the idea away for the future!
ReplyDeleteJerzeegirl - Glad to hear that you have made good use of my Challenge Mitts pattern. I love how quickly they work up... in fact, I often get so distracted while I'm making them that I work TOO MANY ROUNDS and have to frog back! This surprise project is not an afghan...
Loren - Thanks so much for the warm welcome back, and for being on of my biggest supporters, even in my absence! I occasionally find a vintage orange which is out of the world, in it's intensity...
I enjoyed reading tthis
