WOW! Good for you! You look great with your head shaved actually! :) I did the locks of love thing for kids that have gone through chemo. Chopped most of my hair off. I am sorry to hear about your mom. A good friend of mine's daughter just died a couple days ago from Lymphoma. Again, way to go on taking the plunge for a wonderful cause! We need more people like you in the world. :)
I've been reading this blog for about six months and I've gotten such inspiration from your creativity. I've sent several of my friends here to get inspired, too. But I've never been as inspired as I am today. Not inspired enough to shave my head (maybe if I lived in Australia...) but enough to sponsor you. Good luck in reaching your goal!
Just fyi, found this today and thought of you: http://www.shopgoodwill.com/auctions/Large-Lot-Crochet-Hooks--Knitting-Needles-4569685.html You'll probably have to copy and paste, and I have no idea what the shipping to your parts would be, but still...:)
Isnt it amazing how we get caught up in people's hair when were thinking about individual looks??
Last week we went to the salon to get our 5 year old daughter's hair cut for the first time ever. She went from knee length red hair to a fiery pixie cut in no time flat. Next week her primary teacher and I are going to work on donating her braid to a wigs for kids organization. Itll be done through the school (and local newspaper) to teach the kids (and parents) about how important it is to be aware.
The (lack of) hair looks great. What a statement :) now to find a fuzzy hat :D You can have any colour or texture "hair" you want ;)
My goodness.. It is all done! WOW.. well done Purple. Now, I want to see some really cool hats come from this... Sorry to miss nearly 5 - I know how sad she was but I recall the day she did her own hair style with the use of some snippers.... Good on the boys - how fun that would be. For once - your hair is now shorter then mine!
I think you look great. Sorry about your Mum, but I think that this is a great way to honor her memory while trying to raise awareness. Btw, the boys look great too!
Looks great! Plus, it will be easier for everyone to admire your earrings (I just bought a bunch from etsy, without realizing my hair always covers my ears).
Wow, that looks great! Not a lot of women can pull off that look--but the ones who can look really cool. (My best friend shaved her head during her first pregnancy--bad idea.)
islagringo - he was a bit surprised that I actually went through with it... he thought I would bail at the last minute... so he's actually very proud of me right now...
anabelle - thanks
neanner - thanks for you thoughtful comments... and hugs for your loss, too
dee - oh... you absolute treasure!!! thanks so much for the sponsorship... it is greatly appreciated :) :) :)
jessica - thanks... and all those wonderful hooks and needles... yum!
ct - LICES!!!! about a year ago we got 'the lices' in our household... not pretty... believe me... I was ready to shave my head then!!!
queenie - thanks
lisa - what a wonderful thing your daughter is doing to help others! how precious!! I agree... one does tend to focus on hair far too much... I can't believe how free and unencumbered I feel without it
leon - aren't you a sweetheart? I'm feeling better than I have in a long time :)
sharon - YES! my hair is now shorter than yours!!! way shorter... as for little miss four... all I need to do is tell her that if she EVER cuts her own hair (or anyone else's) then I will clip it all over... that should do the trick nicely
littlemary - thank you so much
supernanny - HELLOOOOOO!!! thanks for stopping by to offer your support... much appreciated... hugs xx
kelly - it's interesting actually... quite a number of people have commented on how much I look like mum, now that they see me without hair, and can just focus on the facial features
anonymous - the earring thing is really weird actually... they feel so overpowering now that the hair is gone!
karen - hugs for your loss... mums are so precious that it just doesn't feel right to lose them :( love the donation idea though... what a wonderful gift you are making
jennifer - ooohhhh... hormones and a badly shave head are not a good combination, are they??? although, with the way your hair can misbehave during pregnancy, I can totally relate to the idea of wanting to chop it all off
You know what, I actually like the way you look with no hair :)
ReplyDeleteI bet your kids are getting a kick out of this! But the big question, what does hubby think?
