subscribe! subscribe! subscribe!

This has taken me months, I know... but I finally have the subscribe function on this blog up and running.

If you would like to receive an Email Update each time I post, click on this link here.

Or if you would prefer to subscribe in a reader,  click here.

Of course, you can UNSUBSCRIBE at any time... though I can imagine why you would ever want to!

meanwhile...

ouch

I'm not getting any sympathy at home for this injury... so I thought I'd share it here with you guys!

Yesterday, while performing my wifely duties in the laundry... I bent my thumbnail backwards - man, it throbs (STILL)... and you can see the crescent of bruising under the nail...

Worst of all - I can't crochet with the injury!!! Because I hold my work with my left hand as I hook with my right... it puts far too much pressure on the thumb.

So my scrappy thread project is on hold over the weekend... embroidery is another no-go zone... maybe I need to try some knitting...

Mr Goldfish doesn't understand my pain... it's not the throbbing that is killing me - it's having the time to craft, but not the ability! AAAARGHHHHHH....

That looks nasty, it hurt just to look at it :((( I'm already subscribed through Google Reader and it has worked ok so far.

Ouch! Laundry can be hazardous. More than once I have clipped part of my finger along with the garment while pegging out clothes. The new subscribe function gets me immediately to the blog without the side trip through the main site so this is handy - will keep the main up on my homepage as a reference/directory. Hope knitting eases the angst!

Youch!!! How horrible you can't craft right now. Hubbys are no use with sympathy; perhaps you could tell him that you're unable to cook or retrieve beer or whatever you do for him. He'll find the sympathy, just like mine would!! Hope it heals fast

Good work - but while you're on a roll, could you work out how to add a comments subscription too. I never remember to come back to posts to read the comments! Keeps you busy :-)

Nail looks nasty. Boo! at no sympathy. Maybe now's the time to experiment with machine sewing or embroidery, or drawing? Hope you find something to soothe those crafty urges.

hey misha...

excellent, pleased to hear that google reader is doing the right thing for you... a bunch of folk (myself included) were finding that it 'couldn't find' my blog... but finally I have it all sorted... I HOPE!!!

hey janet...

mr goldfish told me that I had no right to ask for sympathy from him - since I never give him any!!! trouble is, he is RIGHT

hey karen...

I'm thinking that I should be relieved of all laundry duties... until my thumb heals :)

only problem is... there would be a disastrous pile of washing waiting for me!!!

My Grandmother (who is admittedly spoiled) had a hysterectomy when I was 12 years old and the doctor told her to not run the vacuum sweeper til she was all healed. She hasn't touched it since - I'm now 47. So, using my family tradition, once I ran the vacuum and my then 2 year old son cried - wouldn't be much of a mother if I made my widdle baby cry now would I? I've been trying ever since to not run the vacuum - doesn't seem to work as well for me as it did for Grandma (that crying session was 15 years ago). But hey - nothing ventured - nothing gained. I'd start looking for a medical restriction from laundry if I were you. But then again, I'm divorced, so you might want to not take marital advice from me ...

hey flowerlady...

it sounds like your grandmother was a very wise woman!!!

as for my laundry situation... last time mr goldfish helped out by running a load for me, he included my favourite HANDWASH ONLY item in both the washer and dryer cycles - I could have cried :(

Maybe a thimbal? Woo just a minit! That got me thinking (danger danger!) I could make thimbals! Ah but oooooh I just had this really scairy thought of an Australian Red Gum thimbal. Thumbnail pain AND slivers!
Anyways, here's to a quick recovery, Purp!

See, THAT'S why I gave up all forms of domestic duties, such as laundry, dishes, cooking, anything that vaguely resembling cleaning.... I knew something like that was bound to happen someday. Thank goodness I took preemptive measures! Can't take a chance on putting those hands out of commission. I'm here to tell you, the day after my first (right hand) carpal tunnel surgery, I was jamming a knitting needle into the postop dressings trying to figure out how to make that work - there was no way I was going to last a week with doing something. Whew girl, close call. Take care of those babies; relearning knitting/crocheting with feet sounds like a real bi-otch!
