my corner of the world

Thank you so much to everyone who has sent messages of concern, thoughts, prayers and hugs...

We are safe... about 50km from the fires... and under NO immediate threat...

If you have five minutes to spare... you might like to take a look at the video below (just click on the image) to see what is happening in my corner of the world. There is a map shown within the first 20 seconds of the video... we are located about half way between MELBOURNE and BENDIGO

I, too, was concerned so glad to see your latest post. The fire-related images being shown on the national news here in the US are beyond devastating. Last I heard your temps were dropping and wind speeds had reduced which is encouraging in fighting the battle. As a resident of Southern California we get our share of firestorms (closest has been about 25 miles from me). Too many tales of how quickly these can turn to tragedy. Keep us posted!

I'm glad to hear you are ok- it is so sad to think that all this tragedy was started by someone intentionally. Even though I'm on the other side of the globe, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your neighbors. :)

I live in California as well and do understand. We have four seasons: Floods/mudslides, riots, fires, and earthquakes. Both South and North of California have experienced terrible firestorms. Please let us know of any efforts we can help with.

I'm glad to see you are OK and my heart goes out to your fellow Australians who are in the midst of it.

I have been hearing a lot about the fires down under these past few days and also the fact that some of these fires have been suspected of being started up by cruel-minded peoples.

I thought about you and another friend of mine that live in Australia. I am quite glad to see you are quite a distance away from the fires.

Wish I could send over some of my snow and cold temperatures to you! :)

Whoever started these fires should be burned at the stake. Please don't try to be brave if it turns your way. Those poor people who waited to long to vacate. Horrible to think what their last moments must have been like.

Thankyou for sharing the TV link. We've been watching it here as well.

Hell on earth, it would seem.

My goodness! I'm SO relieved to see you're okay! I didn't know in what part of Australia you lived, but I figured it was south because of the hot weather you mentioned. Didn't dare to think you were THAT close!

It's impossible to imagine what you all are going through.

Lots of love and strength!
- and an uncountable amount of hugs to share with each and everyone.
