And she came bearing a gift...
Thank you Dawnie-Pants!
Just look at all those mini skeins of wool on my coffee table - a whole 1.6kg worth of sample yarn!
Now, I don't have a plan for them just yet... for the moment they are still sitting on the table, for me to admire and fondle.
And the kids have been entertaining themselves 'fishing'... a game which involves stabbing one of my knitting needles blindly into the pile, and seeing what they can 'catch'
Clearly I have been blessed with children who are as easily amused as I am!
Now tell me... what would you do with all these tiny skeins???

I see a lot of little dolls, or animals made out of all that fabulous yarn. Lucky You!

Oooh what a lovely pile of inspiration. I'd probably start by fishing too, then I'd arrange the colours in myriad ways to get more inspiration and ideas.

Oh, I see many happy striped cardigans. I'd like to dive into that pile. :)
Lots and lots of little granny squares!
A vivid, scrummy blanket!
Are you kidding me? Holy cow! I wish someone would bring ME a gift like that! I can't wait to see what you do with it all!
Ooh! Stroke them :-)
Maybe a granny squares scarf or fingerless gloves or the like.
But mostly just admire them :D

Oh my goodness. I literally squealed when I saw that first picture.
The first thing you should do is fill your bathtub with them and then take a nap on a pile of yarn.
After that, if it were me I'd keep them in a safe place and wait for inspiration to hit.
I wish I had guests like that... :oozing envy:
I would probably make something for my girl, some crazy striped sweater and a matching crazy hat
leftovers would end up in a crazy leftover blanket (WIP of mine, don't ask)
I see plenty more crazy yarn being made!
By the way, I've been talking about you ... ;-) ... over at my blog:

I'd make a hat, scarf or afghan (or all of that) and just use as many color combinations as I could come up with. That's such a great collection.
Oh my! What great, understanding friends you have! Sighing in happiness and anticipation would suit me just fine for a day or two.
In all honesty? I'd enjoy looking at them, then put them away while I tried to decide what to use them for, and end up pulling them out once a year or so just to look at them and feel them! I'm glad they are in your capable hands instead! Looking forward to seeing what you do!
Mitered squares and then a nice beautiful blanket. YUM!
ooohhhh... some fabulous ideas there!
thanks for sharing your thoughts...
at the moment, they are all still piled on the coffee table, where I can sift through them at my leisure...
First thing that comes to mind is "Lucky YOU!"
Second thought....and it's because I love using the pattern myself, would be to recreate your "Just a Triangle"shawl in all of those lovely colors. That's a bit more practical than the bathtub full of yarn,(although that does sound like pretty decadent fun!!)but it would be the same effect because you would be snuggled up in a piece of artwork composed of tangible evidence of your friendship with your very nice friend.
Are they similar yarn weight? I'd match up all similar weight yarns and make a huge honkin' magic ball and then knit or crochet WHATEVER I dang well pleased - but it would be BIG. Like bedspread big. Babbette is a pretty blanket.
I would put them on my bed and roll all over them... and then start a stripey lap blanket :^)
