Here I am... back from a fabulous vacation! Spent two glorious weeks catching up with family and friends around the country.
I took a large bag of yarn and an assortment of hooks with me. I squeezed as many balls of yarn into that bag as I possibly could... in fear that I might run out along the way. But I might as well have not packed any!
I did so little craft while I was away. Maybe a grand total of two hours in two weeks. There was just so much else going on all the time...
Never mind
I want to show you a project which I finished before I went away, but ran out of time to blog about...
Remember the SCRAPPY KITCHEN MAT I was working on?
Well, I stitched a non slip mat to the underside...
and now it looks like this...
actually... I think it looks even better in real life!

That looks awesome!!
Can't wait to see in in real life. Very clever to put the non slip mat on the back.
As for not crafting much on your break, tut-tut!! lol I'm sure having a break will bring new inspiration. Distance makes the heart grow fonder =)
p.s I had a great time catching up on your blog. It's looking great!
Welcome back from vacation - glad it was so fabulous. I have missed your posts.
What fantastic colours! It's good to have you back :)
Looks fab! Did it take long?
Glad I'm not the only one who hasn't done much crafting recently ;-)
jacqui - thanks... you can put it to the test at the next crochet meet at my place!
mary ellen - I look forward to sharing many more crafting activities, now that I have had my little break :)
misha - thank you
sam - I worked on it for about a fortnight... in between other projects... as for the lack of crafting - I was so distracted by everything else going on, that I didn't even miss it... which really surprised me!!!
Wow, gorgeous! I've never been one for rugs like that, but I think you've changed my mind.
Glad you had a good vacay!
I stuck my hand inside my computer screen and gave that mat a pat - well, virtually so. It is vibrant!
Your scrappy mat is lovely and so much safer now with the non slip mat. I was beginning to wonder where you had dissappeared to, but glad that your back.
Looks wonderful! Can you share a pic that shows a bit of the grey nylon binder you used with the yarn? I am wondering if we have stuff like this for sale here in Canada. Thanks!
Wow...seriously, I don't think it CAN look better in real life, because it looks truly fabulous there!!! What I wouldn't give for your talent...or that gorgeous capelet a few posts back! (Even now, jealous energy is oozing through my keyboard...)
Where are the directions???? What materials did you use? I love it! Thanks for sharing. Sandra
I love it! I need a kitchen mat and this looks so simple! What a great way to use up all those left over scraps!
I've never seen carpet nylon - I'll have to look for some.
thanks everyone... will post some instructions for the mat very soon :)
