These are exquisite. I also much appreciate your accompanying photos which satisfy my wish to 'see' them adequately. Perhaps you will share more on your spinning. Where did you get the alpaca? Did you dye it? What kind of wheel do you have? And having just taken part in spinning outdoors - mostly with drop spindles - on the patio of the Museum here in Victoria BC and having talked with many tourists about what we were doing and what they were doing at their home place, I am wondering how popular the drop spindle is in Australia. Spinning in general?

I love the colorway of your yarn in this project. It looks a bit scratchy though. What is the fiber content?

très chique! but wouldn't people wonder why you are wearing those medieval looking gloves. I would love to wear them as my ankles often feel cold.

Those are lovely! Love the yarn as well! Did you dye it yourself too?

Ms. Goldfish,
Your blog leaves me surprised and sometimes incredulous (the carved crochet hooks, for instance), but always inspired. (I even tried the carved crochet hooks myself.)

I nominated you for a Kreativ Blogger Award.

karen - spinning in australia is becoming very popular... most people I have spoken with have dismissed the drop spindle and gone straight for a wheel...

the alpaca was a thank you gift from a very dear friend... she bought it already dyed and prepared for spinning... it was quite a treat to just sit and spin, without having to do any of the prep work!

my wheel is a tradtional style... a sheridan macarthur... she's very cute, and sits in the front entry alongside a wicker basket of fleece, welcoming all my visitors...

I find it wonderfully relaxing to spin outdoors in the sunshine... so I'm waiting patiently for SPRING to arrive :)

islagringo - the fiber is 100% alpaca... it has a distinctly 'hairy' quality to it... it is very light to wear, but super warm at the same time... these are a little scratchy on the inside of my wrists where the skin is sensitive... but I usually find that the 'ticklyness' disappears after a soak in either vinegar/water or hair conditioner/water

missusmint - agree totally... the colour is divine

eliane zimmerman - lol! people probably wonder about a lot of the things that I wear... but if I love it, I wear it... it's as simple as that :)

vanessa - thank you

ohthecuteness - no, this was a gift, already dyed and ready to spin... a wonderful gift indeed!

sinnlighet - thanks!

waitress from mensa - much appreciated... so pleased that you are finding inspiration here... and HAVING a GO yourself... fantastic!!!
