I know I made certain promises... to myself and to others... about not purchasing any more garments for recycling...
but I couldn't help myself...
hello... my name is laughing purple goldfish... and I'm an addict
these ones are for felting... to be made into bags or baskets...
and these ones are for frogging...
of course, you understand why I couldn't say no

Lol. If you're going to blow your stash diet, why stop at one?
I've just been talking to a friend about felting jumpers, but they haven't had anything suitable in our local charity shops. They have to be 100% wool, right?
sam - I have only tried felting those which are 100% wool... although I have heard that as long as it is at least 80% wool it should still felt
I've been reading your blog for a bit now and you've inspired me to try some yarn recyling too (thanks!). I love all the tips, hints and instructions you've been so kind to give. What I'm wondering is how much money you are generally willing to spend on a sweater that will be recycled? I'm planning a trip this friday to my local thrift store and I want to know what is reasonable to pay for a sweater.
Thanks so much!
kelly - I'm so excited that you are going to give recycling a go... woo hoo! I'm not sure how prices go across the globe, but here in australia I find I pay on average $6 at an op shop... sometimes you find a bargain, other times you spend a bit more for something you love! you might even find that you or a loved one has a garment lurking in the back of their wardrobe which you can attack :)
Thanks for the advice. I was thinking that I would bring $20 with me and hopefully leave with three sweaters. I'll let you know how I do!
kelly - yes.. please do... and if you have any questions, ask away :)
well, the good news is that you're not alone in your failure to resist the sweater recycling urges. The deal I make with myself is that I can only shop in the GoodWill store if I'm also donating stuff.
I've found that recycled sweaters are an incredibly inexpensive way to find lace-weight cashmere to feed my developing lace shawl obsession.
morenna - it's just so hard to resist the lure, isn't it...and of course, you always have to BUY NOW... because it won't be there on your next trip!
