return of the crazy yarn

002

You didn't think I had abandoned the crazy yarn, did you???

003

No Siree! In fact, I made this adorable shawl for Little Miss Four...

001

I love the way it looks when secured with a brooch or large pin... but she is not to be trusted with sharp objects at the moment. Ahhhh, the joys...

So we settled for tying the front with a recycled ribbon. She still feels like a princess... and I don't need to watch out for pins when I sit down anywhere!

How vibrant!! Definitely fit for a princess. And such a diversity of 'origins'. Applause....applause....

It's lovely, especially with the ribbon tie. And I love the way the crazy yarn comes out - it's so fab! It even has some pink in it ;-)

That was a great idea to use the ribbon.

That is really brilliant! Truthfully, I never knew that you could use different types of yarn, I thought that is was an unspoken no-no. The use of the ribbon to tie the front is very clever. My daughters from the youngest to the very oldest would definiitely love, love something like this.

this that whatever - in some circles, it probably is an unspoken NO-NO! but not for me... I say WHY NOT! experiment... play... have fun... there are NO YARN POLICE!!!

This is really lovely, and what a great idea for saving the odds and ends! I was actually inspired by your post about handmade stuff, and I have been making a bunch of things for my own brood. ;-)

As a novice crochet fiend, I have to ask, though- did you use a pattern for the shawl, or just "feel your way" through it? I am not so knowledgeable (or bold) as to make up a pattern, and most of the freebies online are much more complicated. Would you mind sharing your pattern, or maybe point me in a good direction? I have a few "Little Miss Fours" that might like a fun shawl like this for Christmas- it is getting pretty cold here in Pittsburgh!

Thanks for any help you can give me, and, as always, I so enjoy your blog!
